Each idea you submit gives you a chance to win $$$! There will be CASH drawings for all contest entries.  If you are not attending the conference but are a current WCAA member, you can still enter ideas and be eligible to win money.  Only those attending the conference will receive a Bright Ideas Book.  Please share your Bright Ideas – we need each other’s help more than ever! There is no charge to enter.

Categories and guidelines have changed from previous years and there will not be tear sheets displayed or a tear sheet contest, but a great book to take home.  You may also bring your submitted Bright Idea(s) to the conference (with any materials to pass out) and present during the idea sessions for more chances to win money and help other newspapers.  If you have been saving tear sheets, you can still use these – just take photos of them and e-mail using the categories and guidelines outlined below.  Click here to download the entry form.

Ideas should be within the timeframe of August 2008 through July 2009.  Deadline to submit is July 31, 2009.  Submit your entries to Liz Johnson.

Guidelines About Each Submitted Idea

For each idea submitted please use the following guidelines to explain your idea.  These are guidelines only and not all are necessary for each idea submitted:

Strategy – Give details on the development and process behind this project.  What were your goals? Challenges? Describe the conditions that played a role and how they were used to your advantage.

Innovation – Describe the original brainstorming and strategy phases of conception, development and production. What was the estimated budget for the project, and were there limitations that prompted clever financing? Why was this project different than previous projects?

Adaptability – Can the concept translate into other newspaper markets? How could the creative be adapted to other situations? If not, why not?

Impact – What was the success of the ad/campaign? Did you accomplish a return on your investment? What were the tangible and intangible impacts on your audience and advertisers? What are your future plans to expand on this campaign? Please be specific to include the revenue and audience generated.

Design is not considered criteria for Bright Ideas, except for category #13.
